Unemployment in Poland and the labour market in 2025: is the lack of jobs a myth?

…or at least certainly not on the scale you think. For years people have talked about rising unemployment. However, when you analyse unemployment in Poland and the labour market in 2025, the picture is not clear-cut. Let us look at immigrants from other countries. Poles used to emigrate en masse to the United Kingdom. In recent years, on the other hand, many workers have come to Poland from across the eastern border. Most of them were looking for work to provide a decent life for their loved ones. As a result, unemployment at the end of October stood at 5.6%.

What affects the labour market?

There are many reasons for the shortage of jobs. On the one hand, many people apply for each position. On the other, the costs of running a business are rising. Because of this, some smaller companies have to suspend their operations. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) also has a huge impact. It speeds up processes in many industries. Companies today need fewer workers — as long as those workers can use tools such as ChatGPT.

Is artificial intelligence taking jobs?

A perfect example is this year’s Coca-Cola Christmas advert. Every December we used to watch atmospheric commercials. Professional productions with illuminated trucks were a pleasure to watch. They required months of preparation and the work of a whole team of people. And this year? The latest advert is simply a collection of AI-generated shots.

The result is satisfactory, although opinions are divided. No drivers, camera operators or set designers were needed. A group of specialists at their computers was enough. A few jobs simply disappeared.

Physical work is still in demand

There are plenty of examples like this. But they apply only to some industries. A machine or a program still cannot replace good old physical strength. More and more tools are appearing that make work easier. Yet it is still people who have to operate the machines and work in the warehouses. Everyone says people are looking for work. The truth is different: not everyone wants to work.

Candidates’ growing expectations

Looking at unemployment in Poland and the labour market in 2025, there are a great many job offers. We see this at our agency in conversations with our partners. They constantly report a need for workers. Unfortunately, many jobseekers would rather not work at all than accept a lower rate. Candidates, even without experience, have very high financial expectations.

This applies mainly to young people. We see candidates giving up a position for a lighter job. Often, however, after a few months they come back to us for the same projects.

Where to look for secure employment?

Production companies will need workers for a very long time. Open positions are still waiting to be filled. The number of vacancies grows every month. Unfortunately, the number of people ready to work is falling. Dreams of fast money and being an influencer are winning over a stable life. Remote work at a computer is all the rage today.

But let us remember that physical work is the foundation of the economy. Construction, the food industry and manufacturing are the basis of the country’s development. That is where you will find the most vacancies. There they will welcome you with open arms and teach you everything from scratch. All they expect is willingness and readiness to get to work.
